Making a Difference

 Special Paws dog sanctuary makes sure each dog receives quality food (in one case a prescription food), veterinary care, medications as needed, monthly heartworm meds, flea and tick prevention, grooming, emotional care, and a whole lot of love.  Our furry ones who have come from abusive backgrounds often need a level of care that allows them the opportunity to overcome the post traumatic effects of their abuse.  Neurological issues also require a lot of structure and clinical diagnosis and treatment. Some of our furry ones are seen by specialist, such as a Veterinarian Ophthalmologist, if there are any specific concerns about the care they need.  Because of the age of many of our residents and the nature of some of their disabilities, we are sometimes (thankfully not often) faced with tough decisions concerning their quality of life.  They depend on us to help them in these times and we do so with the help and guidance of our Veterinarians.
